Township of Essa Golf Tournament Raises $48,000 for Local Healthcare and Hospice Organizations
ESSA, ON — The Township of Essa celebrated another successful golf tournament this year, raising $48,000 in support of three local organizations: Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, Royal Victoria Hospital, and Matthews House Hospice.
Following the tournament, representatives from the Township of Essa gathered with representatives from each beneficiary at the Township’s September 3 cheque presentation, where $16,000 was presented to each organization.
“Essa is fortunate to have strong connections to all three of these organizations, and our residents rely on each of them for healthcare and hospice services,” said Sandie Macdonald, Mayor of Essa. “It is wonderful to see the success of our golf tournament continue to grow each year. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible, from our staff, sponsors and golfers to the dedicated teams at Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, Royal Victoria Hospital and Matthews House Hospice. We are proud to support the important work they do in our communities.”
The annual golf tournament brings together members of the community, local businesses and supporters for a day on the course while raising important funds for organizations that provide essential services throughout the region.

The $16,000 donation to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation will support the Foundation’s Because of YOU campaign, which is helping fund the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. Thanks to the Morningview Foundation’s matching gift, this $16,000 donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling its impact to $32,000 in support of the Because of YOU campaign.
The Township of Essa’s golf tournament is an example of the impact that can be made when a community comes together in support of local organizations. The $48,000 raised will help support healthcare and hospice services that are relied upon by residents across South Simcoe and the surrounding communities.
