Alliston & Angus McDonald’s Mark New Era of Hospital Redevelopment with $11,500 McHappy Day Donation
[New Tecumseth, ON – June 4, 2026] – The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is honoured to acknowledge a generous $11,500 donation from McDonald’s in Alliston and Angus, raised through this year’s McHappy Day held on May 6, 2026. The cheque was formally presented to SMHF on May 26, 2026, at the Young St. Alliston restaurant.
Thomas MacKinnon, Operations Supervisor, McDonalds Restaurants, Alliston and Angus adds, “We’re extremely proud of our results from McHappy Day this year. The incredible turnout from the community speaks to how we all collectively pull together in Alliston and Angus for our local initiatives. This contribution to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “Because of YOU” campaign is yet another step towards elevating our local health care in our region. We’re already looking forward to McHappy Day 2027!”
This year’s contribution brings the total lifetime giving from MacKinnon Restaurants Inc. to nearly $220,000. Their sustained generosity arrives at a defining moment for Stevenson Memorial Hospital, with construction of the redeveloped facility now underway.
“This donation lands at a truly historic moment for our hospital and our community. Every dollar raised allows us to continue upgrading the hospital and equipment to serve South Simcoe for generations to come,” said Dr. Ted Vandevis, Chief Executive Officer of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “The MacKinnon’s steadfast support, year after year, is a powerful example of what community partnership can accomplish.”
Thanks to The Morningview Foundation's "Every Dollar Counts" $4 million matching gift, this contribution will be doubled, effectively bringing the total impact of the 2026 McHappy Day support to $23,000.
The Because of YOU campaign is a bold and ambitious effort to raise $80 million through community support to help meet the ongoing capital & equipment needs of the hospital and build the future Stevenson Memorial Hospital. This transformational project will more than double the size of our hospital, providing expanded emergency care and advanced diagnostic imaging. This includes Stevenson’s first MRI suite, modern inpatient facilities, and specialized surgical services - all designed to meet the evolving healthcare needs of our growing community.
As we approach our 100th anniversary in 2028, we stand on the threshold of a new era, just as our founders did nearly a century ago. With the support of our community, we are building a hospital for today and for generations to come—Because of YOU.
