Local family pledges $50,000 towards the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital
On Thursday, December 5th, 2019 Bill & Kim Wray were on hand at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) to present their pledge of $50,000 to the SMH Foundation (SMHF) towards the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign. Bill & Kim Wray have been long-time supporters of SMH and pride themselves on their dedication to Making Our Local Hospital Prosper. As community supporters, they also support the SMHF through their involvement with the Clearview IceCats Girls Hockey Association and they have been a Gala sponsor through their business, K.D. Wray.
“We are both so pleased to be able to support our hospital and community in such a meaningful way, by assisting Stevenson to turn their transformative vision of a revitalized hospital into a reality,” Bill and Kim Wray remarked. “In our personal and professional lives as local business owners and Alliston residents, we understand that having access to vital healthcare services in our own community can make the difference. During this holiday season, we are grateful to be able to support our community by helping to make our local hospital prosper.”
To date, over $20 million has been raised towards the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign, bringing the campaign to nearly 50 per cent of its $43 million goal. The largest campaign in the history of the SMHF, funds are being raised in support of the Hospital’s redevelopment project, Health Information System and annual equipment needs. The hospital relies on the support of the community for enhancements to infrastructure, equipment and technology as the government does not provide annual funding for these critical needs.
“On behalf of the SMHF, we are inspired by Bill & Kim’s generous gift towards the campaign and believe it will inspire others to give as well,” says Tanya Wall, Executive Director, SMHF. “A pledge to donate over time is just as valuable as a one-time donation and may be a more feasible option for many community members. It’s all about the commitment to our cause and we thank Bill & Kim Wray for their ongoing commitment to supporting the needs of our Hospital.”
The Hospital’s redevelopment project includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and Laboratory space is also included in the plans.
