Boston Pizza Alliston contributes $50,000 towards the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital
Julia and Jeff Stubbs, owners of the Boston Pizza – Alliston location are lending their support towards the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s (SMHF) Because of you, we can Capital Campaign. On Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 Julia and Jeff presented their pledge of $50,000 to the SMHF at their restaurant.
“We are truly inspired by the positive community response to the Because of you, we can Campaign, and the incredible work of the Stevenson staff to provide excellent patient care; despite the challenges of an older hospital infrastructure,” says Julia Stubbs, Owner, Boston Pizza – Alliston. “As local business owners, Jeff and I understand the importance of having vital healthcare services that our staff, patrons, and community members can access locally for their families. We all need to do our part for Stevenson, and our gift will hopefully motivate fellow businesses to join the cause of working towards a revitalized hospital.”
Boston Pizza has been a long-time supporter of Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) through their sponsorship of the Hospital Gala and auction, Boston Pizza Celebrity Server Night and the Hospital Radio-a-thon. Jeff Stubbs is also a Director on the Hospital’s Board of Directors, providing guidance and strategic leadership to SMH operations and initiatives.
To date, over $20 million has been raised towards the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign, bringing the campaign to nearly 50 per cent of its $43 million goal. As the largest campaign in the history of the SMHF, funds are being raised in support of the Hospital’s redevelopment project, Health Information System and annual equipment needs. The hospital relies on the support of the community for enhancements to infrastructure, equipment and technology, as the government does not provide annual funding for these critical needs.
“I am thrilled to see another one of our local businesses step forward to support our cause,” says Tanya Wall, Executive Director, SMHF. “We are grateful for all of the support Boston Pizza – Alliston has given and continues to give the Hospital and the Foundation and I hope their generous contribution will inspire other local businesses to support their local Hospital as well, in any way that they can.”
The Hospital’s redevelopment project includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking spaces. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans.
