Ontario Potato Distribution (Alliston) Pledges $50,000 to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign

[New Tecumseth – February 3, 2022] The Ontario Potato Dist. (Alliston) Inc. (OPDI), pledged $50,000 towards the Because of you, we can campaign to redevelop Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The first $10,000 installment was presented in December 2021.

Ontario Potato Dist. (Alliston) Inc.’s core business is farming, packing, storing and distributing potatoes. Since its beginning over 60 years ago, this solely family-owned venture, has been providing high-quality potatoes across Ontario and is pleased to contribute to the SMHF Because of you, we can Campaign. The pledge supports the hospital’s redevelopment project, as well as critical equipment and technology needs.

As a local business that has been operating in Alliston for more than 60 years, it’s important to us to give back. A clinic room in the revitalized hospital will be named in honour of my father, Gordon Cappuccitti, who co-founded this company. It’s a proud legacy to leave for future generations,” says Danny Cappuccitti, President, OPDI.

The $50,000 pledge from OPDI brings their total lifetime giving to almost $90,000.

“Thank you to the Cappuccitti family and Ontario Potato Distribution Alliston for this generous pledge. It’s a privilege to have the support of this long-standing business in our community, as we work together to Transform Stevenson. We look forward to the naming presentation further down the road and the opportunity to showcase the impact of this tremendous gift,” says Mary Thomas, CEO, SMHF.

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in the SMHF’s history, supporting the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
