Roots Community Fund Contributes $5,000 to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “Because of You, We Can” Campaign for ECG Purchase
[February 3, 2025 – New Tecumseth, ON] — The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is thrilled to announce a generous $5,000 donation from the Roots Community Fund to support the purchase of a new electrocardiogram (ECG) machine for Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH). This vital equipment will enhance the Hospital’s ability to provide timely and accurate cardiac diagnostics for patients in the community.
An ECG machine is a critical tool in diagnosing heart-related conditions by measuring the heart’s electrical activity. Adding a new ECG machine will significantly improve the hospital’s capacity to deliver precise diagnoses and potentially life-saving care to patients experiencing cardiac issues. This donation directly supports SMH’s commitment to advancing healthcare technology and improving patient outcomes.
Barbara Steed, Interim President and CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating, “We are deeply grateful to the Roots Community Fund for their generous support. The purchase of a new ECG machine will enhance our ability to provide exceptional cardiac-related care to our patients, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment close to home.”
“This contribution from the Roots Community Fund underscores the power of community support in strengthening local healthcare. We are thankful for their support and dedication to improving patient care at Stevenson Memorial Hospital,” added Frank Cerisano, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The generosity received through the Roots Community Fund reflects their ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives and fostering community well-being. By contributing to the purchase of an ECG machine, the Roots Community Fund is making a tangible difference in the lives of patients and their families across the region.
The Because of You, We Can campaign is designed to raise essential funds to help purchase critical equipment, upgrade technology, and advance construction plans for Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s new build. The hospital’s plan includes a new Emergency Department that will triple in size. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that has managed up to almost 35,000 per year and a growing population in South Simcoe and surrounding communities, this new build is needed for today and future generations.
