Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation Announces $250,000 Anonymous Matching Gift

[New Tecumseth, ON – October 1, 2021] – The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is thrilled to announce a $250,000 Matching Gift from an anonymous donor. From October 1 – December 31, 2021, a generous individual will match all donations made to the SMHF up to $250,000 – driving twice the impact! With increased demand on Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) due to the pandemic and the hospital’s aging infrastructure, SMH needs our community’s support now, more than ever.

This matching gift of $250,000 is being donated by a generous, philanthropic community member that wishes to remain anonymous.

Funds raised through the matching opportunity will support the $43 million Because of you, we can Capital Campaign – the largest and most significant campaign in the Foundation’s history.

The existing hospital was built in 1964, intended to serve 7,000 people a year in the Emergency Department, but with a rapidly growing population, the Emergency Department now serves close to 40,000 people a year, making the need for Redevelopment and equipment upgrades even more critical.

With this anonymous donor matching donations dollar-for-dollar and the community’s support, the SMHF can reach its goal of enhanced infrastructure, equipment and technology, providing health care professionals with the tools and space they need to continue providing quality care close to home.

“This is a unique opportunity to make twice the impact with every gift you give for the rest of the year,” says Mary Thomas, CEO, SMHF. “If you’ve been thinking about making a donation to support your local hospital, there’s never been a better time than now.” To have your gift matched, please visit www.transformingstevenson.ca and make a donation now until Dec. 31.
