Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation reaches $150,000 matching gift goal towards COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is pleased to share that $150,000 has been raised towards the COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund. The Morningview Foundation will be matching this amount as an additional contribution for the Fund.

The SMHF shared this past spring that as of May 1, The Morningview Foundation would match all donations up to $150,000 to the SMHF’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund. This fund will cover costs such as equipment, supplies, and other priority needs as the Hospital fights this pandemic on the frontlines. Every gift made to the fund would be matched dollar for dollar. A total of $151,337 in donations to the fund were received by the SMHF since May 1st.

“We are incredibly thankful to our community members for supporting this critical cause,” says Tanya Wall, Executive Director, SMHF. “Now their dollars will go even further thanks to The Morningview Foundation.”

A total of $516,448 has been given towards the Pandemic Fund this year to date.

The SMHF is now looking forward to shifting their focus to the Hospital’s much needed redevelopment and the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign. Stevenson Memorial Hospital recently announced the approval from the Ministry of Health regarding their Stage 1 submission, and the approval to proceed to Stage 2.

The $43 million capital campaign will support the community share of the funds required to be raised for the $167 million project ($30 million), as well as critical equipment and technology upgrades.

The redevelopment project includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the Hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and Laboratory space is also included in the submission.

“We are halfway to reaching our $43 million goal, but we need to keep the momentum going,” says Wall. “Any amount that can be donated, big or small, will help us reach it. I know how supportive our community is and how much this Hospital means to them, so I am optimistic that together we will be successful,” she adds.

In addition to raising funds, the community can support by volunteering with the SMHF. They are currently looking for volunteers as members for the Campaign Cabinet, Innovation Committee and Board of Directors.
