Stevenson Foundation Raises $14,400 Through “Streets for Stevenson” Online Fundraiser
[New Tecumseth, ON – March 29, 2023] – Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is happy to announce that a total of $14,400 was raised through the Streets for Stevenson online auction in support of the Because of you, we can Campaign.
Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, gratefully accepted from the Town of New Tecumseth, a donation of three street naming opportunities, one street in each town of Tottenham, Beeton, and Alliston, that the community then had the opportunity to bid on naming as a way to honour the legacy of a family member or someone special, who has roots here in New Tecumseth.
The auction was done through the online platform called Trellis, and was open for bidding from January 20, 2023 until March 3, 2023.
“We are excited for the people and families who successfully bid on the Streets for Stevenson and thank them for their generosity towards our community hospital,” says Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “This was an exciting way to fundraise within South Simcoe and surrounding areas, to help bring awareness to the Because of you, we can Campaign here at SMH, and highlight some of the history here in New Tecumseth.”
The $43 million, Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history. Donations received help purchase essential equipment, upgrade technology, and complete critical renovations essential to the transformation and redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a new Emergency Department that will triple in size. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
