Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Donates $40,000 to Fund Essential Portable X-Ray Unit
[New Tecumseth, ON – March 4, 2026] – The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is thrilled to announce a generous $40,000 donation from the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. This significant contribution will go towards funding a new portable X-ray unit, bringing advanced diagnostic imaging directly to the bedside and elevating the standard of care for patients at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH).
The Auxiliary originally pledged this remarkable gift during the live fund-a-need auction at the Foundation’s Energy Experience gala, held on November 20, 2025.
“This is a very important piece of equipment that allows, in some cases, for x-rays to be taken without moving the patient,” emphasized Gary Munro, President of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
A portable X-ray unit is a vital piece of modern medical technology that gives healthcare teams great flexibility to perform rapid, high-quality imaging, without the need to transport vulnerable or critically ill individuals to the diagnostic imaging department.

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a dedicated group of volunteers, has been a steadfast pillar of support for SMH through community fundraising and service initiatives since 2001. Through efforts such as Tag Days and Annual Raffle sales, the Auxiliary has made a transformative impact on the hospital’s ability to acquire top-tier medical equipment and provide exceptional care to the region.
The Because of YOU campaign is a bold and ambitious effort to raise $80 million through community support to help build the future of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. This transformational project will more than double the size of the hospital, providing expanded emergency care and advanced diagnostic imaging, including Stevenson’s first MRI suite, modern inpatient facilities, and specialized surgical services, all designed to meet the evolving healthcare needs of our growing community.
