The Power of Vision
Most of us at some point in our lives have tried to close our eyes and envision what the future may hold. Vision is simply seeing what is and imagining what might be. Vision is not crystal balling. If we could crystal ball, we would all be millionaires. All we can do is see what is, and imagine what might be.
We can also picture what it would be like to…say…be on a beach on some exotic island soaking in the sand, sun and scenery. We let our minds run free thinking about what it might be like. Then we start planning for this vacation we want, saving any spare change we can find, finding the best deal we can afford, and making sure we can get the time off. Most of our waking hours are spent figuring out how we are going to make what seemed impossible before, now not only possible, but probable. We will soon be able to dream like that again.
This is what vision is like. We think about an ideal future state and then begin working toward achieving it. The vision of 100% of the 73,000 individuals in the Hospital’s catchment area giving to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s $43 million Because of you, we can Campaign is not a crystal ball type of vision. It is a desired future state that is not only possible, but probable if we all do our part. We begin by believing that the right vision includes all of us making a contribution to something that impacts all of us, and is good for all of us. What follows is each of us making our individual commitments. My wife and I did. I wouldn’t ask you all to give if I hadn’t led the way myself. All of our energy needs to be directed toward realizing our vision. The power of this vision will help us get there. Help me realize this shared vision today.
