Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation Receives a $50,000 Matching Donation from Alan and Brenda Lundy Toward Centralized Fetal Monitoring System

[New Tecumseth, ON – March 1, 2024] – Alan and Brenda Lundy, long-time supporters of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF), have generously pledged a $50,000 matching gift to advance the Centralized Fetal Monitoring System fundraising initiative. This substantial contribution aims to enhance maternal and fetal healthcare at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH), highlighting the couple’s deep-rooted connection to the hospital.

Brenda Lundy, born at the original hospital, shares a heartfelt connection to Stevenson. “This hospital is special.  It is my birthplace and where all our children and two grandchildren were born,” she says. The Lundy family’s commitment is rooted in gratitude for the hospital meeting their needs. Alan Lundy adds, “The hospital has always been there for us in the past. It’s our turn to be there for Stevenson today. The hospital’s impact extends beyond the building.  It is a big part of our community, and we want to make a lasting impact for its tomorrow.”

In addition to their matching gift for the Centralized Fetal Monitoring System, the Lundy’s recently demonstrated their commitment by contributing $100,000 toward the hospital’s greatest needs. This generous donation was promptly matched, doubling the impact of their support.

The Centralized Fetal Monitoring System ensures patient safety with real-time maternal and fetal monitoring, efficient data management, and seamless integration, enabling timely actions for optimal care. The Lundy’s’ donation sets the stage for community members to join them in supporting this groundbreaking initiative.

“We are deeply thankful for the Lundy family’s $50,000 matching gift for the Centralized Fetal Monitoring System. Their support enhances the healthcare services SMH provides and inspires others to contribute. Their generosity ignites and encourages fellow community members to contribute towards healthcare. We appreciate their impactful contribution and welcome the support of others in helping to reach this goal.” – Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Foundation

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history. Donations received help purchase essential equipment, upgrade technology, and complete critical renovations essential to the transformation and redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.  The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a new Emergency Department that will triple in size. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
