Garry Mercer Trucking pledges $12,500 towards the Because of you, we can Campaign
Garry Mercer Trucking is helping the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) celebrate the end of a great year by pledging $12,500 towards the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign. On Tuesday, December 31st, Garry Mercer and members of his staff were at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) to present their pledge of $12,500 to the SMHF, the Last Gift of 2019.
“The New Year is a time to reflect on our accomplishments and contributions to the betterment of our own communities, and we are thrilled to be celebrating the close of 2019 by pledging our support to Stevenson,” says Garry Mercer. “All of us at Garry Mercer Trucking are looking forward to ushering in 2020, and watching the progress of the Because of you, we can Campaign for our local hospital.”
To date, over $20 million has been raised towards the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign, bringing the campaign to nearly 50 per cent of its $43 million goal. The largest campaign in the history of the SMHF, funds are being raised in support of the Hospital’s redevelopment project, Health Information System and annual equipment needs. The hospital relies on the support of the community for enhancements to infrastructure, equipment and technology as the government does not provide annual funding for these critical needs.
“We are thrilled that Garry Mercer Trucking has joined us to celebrate ringing in the New Year by presenting the final gift of 2019,” says Tanya Wall, Executive Director, SMHF. “As we reflect on the last year and the incredible community response received to the Because of you, we can Campaign; we wish to thank local businesses such as Garry Mercer Trucking, who ensure the vision of a redeveloped hospital is on the Foundation’s 2020 resolution list.”
The Hospital’s redevelopment project includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and Laboratory space is also included in the plans.
