McDonalds Alliston and Angus McHappy Day Raises $10,000 for Stevenson Memorial Hospital Redevelopment
[New Tecumseth, ON – May 17, 2022] – We are pleased to announce that McDonald’s in Alliston and Angus had a successful McHappy Day, with the share raised in support of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) reaching $10,000. On May 11th, the community came out in force to purchase McDonalds meal items and merchandise in support of quality health care close to home.
This year marked the 28th McHappy Day in the history of McDonald’s® Canada. Each year more than 1,400 McDonald’s restaurants across the country celebrate McHappy Day, the company’s longest-running and best-known national fundraising event. 50% of the proceeds raised from the McHappy Day are contributed directly to Toronto Ronald McDonald House, and the other 50% donated to local charities, such as Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“McHappy Day is all about putting the focus on families and health care. We truly believe that it is vitally important to demonstrate to our staff that we support causes that make an impact on the world we live in. I’d like to challenge other like-minded local businesses to do the same and make charitable initiatives their priority, such as community health care,” commented Rory MacKinnon, Owner/Operator, McDonald’s in Alliston & Angus.

In addition, the McCafé® Loyalty Card program is currently running at McDonald’s locations in Alliston and Angus; and McDonald’s will contribute $2 from each filled McCafé® Loyalty Card that is returned to McDonald’s allowing their customers to enjoy hot beverages, while supporting local health care at Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in the SMHF’s history, supporting the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
