Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation Celebrates Generosity with a $20,000 Donation from Somerville Nurseries Inc.

[New Tecumseth, ON – Feb. 5, 2024] – The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is delighted to share that in December 2023, Somerville Nurseries Inc. once again demonstrated remarkable generosity by contributing $20,000 to the ongoing Because of you, we can Campaign. This significant donation, matched dollar-for-dollar, as part of the matching gift from The Morningview Foundation, will support the greatest needs of Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH).

Established around 1950, Somerville Nurseries Inc., a cherished family-owned business rooted in the Simcoe and Dufferin counties, began its journey by cultivating various Pine and Spruce varieties.  Today, Somerville Nurseries thrives as a multifaceted enterprise with three distinct divisions: Christmas trees, ornamental nursery stock, and bare root seedlings.

For generations, the Somerville family has been entrepreneurial mentors in the community. Their pride in the local area is exemplified through Somerville Nurseries Inc., which is delighted to make this $20,000 contribution to support the Your Greatest Chance to Meet Our Greatest Needs matching gift campaign at the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

“We thank Somerville Nurseries Inc. for their generous $20,000 donation. This contribution exemplifies their commitment to the health and well-being of our community, and we are truly grateful for their ongoing support when striving to bring the best quality healthcare to those in New Tecumseth and surrounding areas.”, stated Mary Thomas, CEO of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history. Donations received help purchase essential equipment, upgrade technology, and complete critical renovations essential to the transformation and redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.  The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a new Emergency Department that will triple in size. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year and a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
