Celebrating a special holiday gift from a generous community member pledging $50,000 to Stevenson Memorial Hospital!

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is pleased to announce that Debbie Hudson has generously pledged $50,000 to the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) in support of the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign.

Debbie has been a long-time pillar of our community, not only professionally as the Vice President, Investment Advisor Portfolio Manager for TD Wealth in Alliston, but as a patron of local healthcare who is dedicated to creating a lasting impact on our area for generations to come.

“As member of our local business community and someone who lives in the area I serve, it is personally and professionally important to me to do all that I can to make a difference in our community. Supporting the Hospital has been a cause close to my heart, as I understand the positive impact that local healthcare has on my family, my employees and clients,” Debbie Hudson, Vice President, Investment Advisor Portfolio Manager for TD Wealth in Alliston.

Debbie continues to be a driving force for change in local healthcare by supporting SMH extensively by giving generously towards the purchase of equipment, the implementation of a Health Information System (HIS), campaigns and events. This includes the Hospital Gala, the recent COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund, and the redevelopment of the Hospital.

“We are so thankful to have community members who understand the critical importance of having strong local healthcare. Debbie has been a true friend and advocate for the work that we are doing here at SMH, and has helped us to make critical upgrades to equipment and technology, and recently supporting the healthcare crisis that has touched everyone across Canada,” Melody McLean, Interim Executive Director, SMHF. “In addition to her dedication to the Hospital, Debbie also has a passion for our local business community, and is a mentor to women in leadership through initiatives such as the Women at Their Best.”

In October, 2019 the SMHF launched a $43 million Capital Campaign, Because of you, we can, in support of the Hospital’s redevelopment project, as well as critical equipment and technology upgrades. Of the total goal, $30 million represents the community share of the funds required to be raised for the $167 million project. The Hospital relies on the support of the community for enhancements to infrastructure, equipment and technology, as the government does not provide annual funding for these critical needs.

SMH’s redevelopment project includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the Hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans.
